TENDER LOVING CARE OLD AGE HOME CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL OLDER PERSON DAY BY TACKLING ABUSE OF OLDER PERSON.
Raising awareness and making necessary changes to save our elders from abuse.
Hammanskraal, Pretoria 10 March 2024- Often, we hear about the victims of abuse we tend to think that it involves women and children, but that is not always the case. Abuse is a pandemic in our society, and it affects people young and older. Tender Loving Care Old Age Home will be hosting its annual older persons day event to spread awareness of older person abuse.
At Hammanskraal, reports of older person abuse have been brought by the South African Police Service to the centre, which has raised a concern that led to the act. On the 1st of October 2024, tackling abuse will be the agenda of the older person day event, and local community and businesses are invited to be a part of the initiative.
Tender loving care old age home officials together with community health workers from Kekana Gardens Clinic went to several homes where old people from the age of 60 years were living with their grandchildren and others were living alone. The situation of those was unpleasant and not conducive. Interventions had to be made to preserve the life of the old people. TLC contacted the families of those people and indeed they were struggling to look after the elderly.
Tender Loving Care Old Age Home was founded by Mrs Johanna Mukubyane together with Mrs Nicoline Ditshego in 2006 at her home, it took time to be funded by the Department of Social Development, but they have always managed to open their doors and offer service to the old residents of Hammanskraal.

TENDER LOVING CARE OLD AGE HOME ANNOUNCES A DONATION DRIVE FOR LOCAL SENIOR CITIZENS.
A warmer winter season for our local grannies in Kekana Gardens village in celebration of 67 minutes of Mandela.
Hammanskraal, Pretoria 28 February 2024- Tender loving care old age home will be hosting a donation drive for the international Nelson Mandela Day by visiting several homes where there are old people over the age of 60 years to give them winter blankets and food parcels.
The centre's management and employees will be collaborating with local businesses to ensure a warmer winter for our senior citizens. As part of the international Nelson Mandela, they will also offer hygiene tips for the elderly people and clean their houses.
“Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice.” this is a quote from our former president Nelson Mandela, it encourages us to not only accept help but to also help others who need it to change our lives.
67 minutes of Mandela is a day when people show their generosity to the less fortunate and it has been a tradition for people and businesses around the Hammanskraal to spend their time and resources to help our centre. This year the centre has decided to be the one offering help to the less fortunate.
Tender Loving Care Old Age Home has accommodated many old people and ensured that their basic needs such as eating a balanced meal, managing their health care, and socialising are met. Improving the lives of our beloved elderly is one of our core values.
