Putting our health a priority in our lives.

Aging is a gift from God and not many people get to reach the golden year however it can come with some challenges such as health complications and boredom. Many of our elderly don’t find much to do when they reach certain years. Keeping active is one of the important lifestyles that is recommended by health professionals. We have gathered several tips that can help to keep our elderly active.
Active ideas
> Planting new seeds and watering the garden.
> Outdoor dancing and singing
>Socialising with their peers
These activities are sure to keep our seniors active without compromising their health. They involve minimal physical movement and with the help of family members or caregivers it can be fun.
Planting the new seed and watering the garden.
A home garden is essential because it can provide organisation food at a low cost and the feeling of knowing that it’s the fruit of your labour. A small garden can go a long way and it allows creativity in small spaces. It can be made from a bucket that is no longer in use or an old car tyre. The easy seeds that require less maintenance are spinach, beetroot, and carrots. It can also be beneficial to plant seeds according to their seasons. At TLC old age home there is a garden where our seniors who can walk are helping the gardener to plant and water the garden.

TLC gardens that is always growing nutritious food.

Outdoor dancing and exercising.
Dancing can seem to be difficult and very tiring to do, but truly it is not when it is done for fun. Some of the senior citizens are unable to walk and move around, which can make them think that they can't dance. Some dance moves are easy to do such as shaking hips and waving hands, it does not have to be fancy if everyone gets to be a part of the dancing party. Singing and dancing is a daily routine at TLC old age home as part of the active aging programme.

Socialising with their peers.
Group tasks are very essential part of socialising, our elders have great stories that they can share with us, asking them about their experiences with their first job or having money can turn into a session of wisdom for us and it can keep them engage and build new friendships.
